One More Civil War Connection

Well, now I am watching the DVD and doing the special features where Ken Burns (the filmaker) talks over part of the show to describe the process, etc.

Guess what I found out!?

The REASON he got interested in making this documentary about the Civil War is that he read the book.... The Killer Angels!

I had no idea!

We found the DVD first, and got hooked, then I posted on my local CM list about good Civil War books. My friend Joy told me about Killer Angels. So we read it.

So COOL that Ken Burns got his inspiration from the book we loved, particularly he was inspired by the story of Joshua Chamberlain the officer who was a professor from Maine.

I wish I could start all over with the DVDs. Now I want to do a Civil War trip. :)
