Padre Pio

Oh, we all are finding such wonderful Lent reflections and I enjoy all that you all share.

Here is an entry from Padre Pio's Words of Hope that jumped out at me, especially in the midst of parenting and homeschooling.

Humility

1 Peter 5:5 "...clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another, for "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.'"

But my pride insists that I race ahead of God in order to avoid trials.

Padre Pio's assurance: "...try more and more to hold firmly to humilty and charity which are the mian supports of the whole vast building and on which all the rest depends...If the heart is always striving to practice these two virtues, it will meet with no difficulty in practicing the others."

"When you are unable to take big steps on the paths along which the Lord leads you, be content with small steps and patiently wait until you have the legs to run, or better still, wings to fly. Be content with being a little honeybee in a hive for the present; a little bee that will quickly become a big bee, able to manufacture honey, beacuse God speaks to those who are humble."

"Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, accepting with submission and pateince the tribulations he sends you, so that he can exalt you in due time, by giving you his grace."

Lord, give me grace to humble myself before you, to wait for your directions and to bear my trials with patience. Thank you. Amen.

We are all on a journey, and this blog's reason for existence is to be a place to put mine. From humble suburbian begnnings just north of Dallas to a Catholic unschooler with a passion for faith, lifelong learning, my family and dogs, here I stand before you. Welcome to my world!
Authenticity. That would have to be my theme at present. To enjoy my family, be true to ourselves and our faith and be authentic and enthusiastic about life!
"True happiness lies in giving ourselves in love to our brothers and sisters. "

I love Dog Day Afternoons...
"What children need is not new and better curricula but access to more and more of the real world; plenty of time and space to think over their experiences, and to use fantasy and play to make meaning out of them; and advice, road maps, guidebooks, to make it easier for them to get where they want to go (not where we think they ought to go), and to find out what they want to find out."
