More Thankfulness and my Current Booklist

Well, part of my conversation with my old (really OLD lol) friend today was on life.

Of course.
Duh.

But it got to how my dh has given me to opportunity to be at home with the kids, then homeschool.

In that, I have lots of time to read, learn, discover. Actually it is really a job requirement to keep the atmosphere rich around here, and I have to always be learning new things and finding resources to pass on. And as many of us have said, often this 'second' education is richer than our first.

I thank my husband for giving me the time and resource to do this.

so.. here is my current stack of books I am reading simultaneoulsy.

Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beacher Stowe
The Two Towers by JRR Tolkein
Fed Up! : The Breakthrough Ten-Step, No-Diet Fitness Plan by Wendy Oliver-Pyatt
Margin: Restoring Emotional, Physical, Financial, and Time Reserves to Overloaded Lives by Richard A. Swenson
Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey
Catholicism for Dummies by John Trigilio and Kenneth Brighenti
The Apostolate of Holy Motherhood by Mark I. Miravalle
Chemistry for Dummies by John T. Moore

and other misc things....

About Us

We are all on a journey, and this blog's reason for existence is to be a place to put mine. From humble suburbian begnnings just north of Dallas to a Catholic unschooler with a passion for faith, lifelong learning, my family and dogs, here I stand before you. Welcome to my world!
Authenticity. That would have to be my theme at present. To enjoy my family, be true to ourselves and our faith and be authentic and enthusiastic about life!
"True happiness lies in giving ourselves in love to our brothers and sisters. "

~ Pope John Paul II

I love Dog Day Afternoons...
"What children need is not new and better curricula but access to more and more of the real world; plenty of time and space to think over their experiences, and to use fantasy and play to make meaning out of them; and advice, road maps, guidebooks, to make it easier for them to get where they want to go (not where we think they ought to go), and to find out what they want to find out." [from Teach Your Own by John Holt.]
